How to play StonkSurfer
StonkSurfer is a stock chart game: real-shaped market charts become a wave, and your job is to surf it clean. Here is everything you need to drop in, score big and survive the crash.
The basics
- Pick a ticker. Type any stock or crypto ticker — AAPL, TSLA, GME, NVDA, BTC-USD — or tap one of the popular shortcuts.
- Choose a timeframe. Select 1D, 1M, 6M, 1Y or 5Y. The chart for that window becomes the wave you are about to surf.
- Drop in and surf. Hit Surf. Hold throttle on the flats, ease off before vertical candles, and ride the rhythm of the chart.
- Boost, flip, survive. Jump off the pumps, spin for combo points, and line up clean landings. Survive the crashes and ride to the end of the chart.
Controls
StonkSurfer plays with a handful of keys on desktop, or on-screen buttons on mobile.
- → / D — Throttle. Build speed across the flats and up the climbs.
- ← / A — Brake. Scrub speed before a gnarly drop.
- Space — Jump. Launch off a green candle or pop over a gap.
- ↑ / W — Lean back in the air to rotate the board up.
- ↓ / S — Lean forward to drop the nose and level out for landing.
- Mobile: tap and hold the on-screen throttle, brake, jump and lean buttons.
Scoring
Your score climbs as you surf. You earn points for distance down the chart, a bonus for every clean landing after airtime, and big multipliers for flips and spins while airborne. Reach the end of the chart for a finish bonus. Your best score for each ticker and timeframe is saved locally so you can keep topping it.
Pro tips
Surf the rhythm, not the buttons
Good runs come from rhythm. Hold throttle on safe ground, feather off before a vertical candle, and let the wave do the work.
Level out before you land
In the air, use lean to match your board to the slope below. Landing flat on a steep face is the fastest way to wipe out.
Pump the dips for speed
Carry speed through the bottom of a dip and you will rocket up the far side — perfect for launching big air off the next green candle.
Start mellow, then go big
Learn your line on smooth waves like SPY or MSFT, then graduate to chaos breaks like GME, TSLA and DOGE once your balance is dialed in.
Which charts should I surf first?
Start on smooth, beginner-friendly waves like SPY or MSFT to learn your rhythm. When you are ready for chaos, drop in on TSLA, GME or DOGE-USD — their charts make the wildest, most vertical waves in the game. Crypto like BTC-USD serves up the biggest swells of all.
